Southeast Bakersfield refers to the area between Union Avenue, East California Avenue, and Edison Highway in the town’s southeast corner. It includes two communities: the M.L.K. Community and the Cottonwood Community. The Southeast also contains three parks: Casa Loma Park, Bell Terrace Park, and Rexland Park. This is one of Bakersfield’s most underdeveloped areas. It is mostly industrial, but there are some residential parts as well. State Route 58 runs across the region, connecting Bakersfield to all locations southeast, including Tehachapi, Mojave, and Barstow.
