The Bakersfield Museum of Art is an art museum located in Central Park, on the corner of 19th St. and R St. The Walter Osborn family established the museum in 1956 as a tribute to their late daughter. It features four galleries with a permanent collection made up of works by local artists as well as space for touring exhibitions. Museum also features multiple gardens outside with sculptures and other forms of art on show. The goal of the museum is to offer a wide range of visual arts experiences through the display and preservation of fine art, educational initiatives, engagement with the local community, and special events.
