Southwest Road, Bakersfield, California
Southwest Bakersfield is the southwest region of Bakersfield. The Kern River runs through it to the north, while Oak Street/Wible Road runs through it to the east. The city limits itself serve as the other boundary. Major residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, as well as parks, shopping districts, and a university, may all be found in the Southwest. Growth began in the early 1950s and picked up speed in the 1960s. Between the 1960s and 1980s, Bakersfield experienced much of its growth in the southwest. The expansion of this area was slowed in recent years due to expansion in other parts of the city.
