Mill Creek is a park in Bakersfield that extends between Golden State Avenue and California Avenue in the downtown area and runs along the Kern Island Canal. Central Park, the only park in downtown, is located in the heart of Mill Creek park. There is a lake with spray fountains in the park, as well as the “Mill Creek” bridge. The Bakersfield Community House and the Bakersfield Museum of Art are both located there. The park name originally comes from a flour mill that once stood on 17th Street. There are public restrooms and a playground in Central Park. There is also a Wi-Fi service (for a fee).
